MISS NFF CLOSES SHOP, WELL... NOT EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!
Hey ya,

I know I have been seriously MIA, it’s been a month, two??? Well there’s a good explanation for it all.

I started the Naijafashionfreak blog a year and a few months ago, like I said in my first post, the idea came ‘like a flashing light bulb on a deeply uneventful day’. It is usually said that an idle mind, is the devils workshop, I like think of an idle mind, as just a workshop, because it was an idle mind that thought up the idea behind the Naijafashionfreak blog!

I have always had a passion for fashion, and my blog allowed me to explore that interest in depth, however I liked! And it has been fun all through.

I started the Naijafashionfreak blog, because I had a yearning to share the knowledge I had gathered from intense (am a freak, I tell you!) reading of fashion magazines and texts to anyone who cared to read, to guide women to style perfection the best way I knew how and in general, to spread the fabulousity! Little did I know it will open so many doors for me.

Miss NFF is closing shop, well... not exactly. I have been appointed The Style Editor of http://www.bellanaija.com/
so if you got a kick out of the Naijafashionfreak blogpage, you can catch me and my articles on the bellanaija website; this time however, writing as my true self- IJEOMA NDEKWU.

The blog will however still be left open, although I will not be posting anymore. This is for readers who will like to refer to previous posts.

It has been so much fun, and thanks a whole lot to everyone who ever cared to read and comment on my articles, I really do appreciate it, and I am filled with enormous gratitude. Lots and lots of love from me to you!
That’s all folks, have a fashion fabulous rest of the week, hope to catch you all on http://www.bellanaija.com/ See you when I see you and remember to always keep your fashion freak on!

Yours' Stylishly,
Naijafashionfreak.

MISS NFF ANALYZES; THE NIGERIAN FASHION WEEK: ZIZI CARDOW!!!!

Hey! Everyone how are you all doing? Hope your week is going all well and dandy!

The Nigerian fashion week went down from the 15th of September to the 17th at the Muson Centre at Onikan showcasing collections from over 70 local and international designers.

Although I wasn’t able to be there in person, I have been fortunate to get a view of some of the collections displayed, thanks to our friends at
http://www.purefoto.com/

Out of all the designers collections featured on their website, Zizi Cardows’ really struck me; it made a long lasting impression.

Zizi is known to bring drama to the catwalk, from the high cut slits to the ethnic flair of her exquisite designs. Her designs are best described as strong, bold and daring!
And for that, she is ‘most’ loved by yours truly.

Here’s a look at her collection through my eyes;
ENJOY!!

SILHOUETTES:

Dramatic Long Sleeves

Asymmetrical Skirts/Short front-long trailing back dresses

Empire Waist Line

Tie-neck halter dresses

Zizis’ collection took a softer approach, however still striking, with dramatic long sleeves in flowing chiffon, extending to kaftans, the short front-long trailing back dresses with tiered frills and layers.

Although a bit ‘covered’ up, her love for the show of skin is displayed with deep plunging necklines, backlines and the string held bare backs.

Zizi showcases soft feminine dress pieces by using floral prints, sequin and lace detail trimmings.

Still staying true to her style, we see her signature animal print, corsetry and use of african fabrics; the aso-oke fabric being the most prominent in her collection.

Most pieces in her collection can easily transition from the runway to the red-carpet, so I look forward to seeing our celebs ‘stun’ in them!

The asymmetric dresses really wowed me, especially these two, they are just absolutely stunning.

To view more on Zizi Cardows’ collection log on to http://www.purefoto.com/

That’s all folks, May bring you my analysis on some more collections, as inspiration dictates! Have a wonderful week. Will want to know what you all think about the collection; so feel free to leave your comments. Need to get in contact with me, It is naijafashionfreak@gmail.com or naijafashionfreak@hotmail.co.uk . See you when I see you, and remember to always keep your fashion freak on!

DESIGNER CONFIDENTIAL: DUMEBI AGBAKOBA

Hey ya everyone, it has been a minute! If someone told me I wasn’t going to blog throughout the month of September, hmmnn…I wouldn’t have believed half of the nonsense…But Oh, well!

A lot of stuff has been going on… The Good, the Bad and the downright u-g-l-y I aint got no alibi, I tell you! But I have decided not to let my troubles get in the way of my love for fashion…So to hell with it, let the fabulousity continue!

I chat up a storm with two time nominee at the Future Awards for Best use of Goodwill; Dumebi Agbakoba on her Label ‘Dakou’, her love for the South of France and the upcoming DSPA Charity ball. ENJOY!!!

NAIJAFASHIONFREAK>>> So Dumebi, what is the inspiration behind your collections?
DUMEBI>>> First and foremost, my environment then equally my family. I'm inspired by nature and generally observing what’s going on around me.

NFF>>> What is it about your designs that convey your point of view as a designer?
DUMI>>> Fashion shouldn't be taken too seriously. My designs are wearable, colourful and fun.

NFF>>> How should a woman feel in your clothes?
DUMI>>> Sexy, free and sassy!

NFF>>> What do you think is always summers’ must have dress?
DUMI>>> I will say, print maxi dresses with embellishments.

NFF>>> Everyone loves a great holiday, what’s your favourite holiday destination and why?
DUMI>>> There are so many places to choose from. I am not sure if I have a favourite…. maybe Nice, South of France. It just seems like a really interesting place. I also love South of Africa and New York. The shopping in NY is fantastic and the weather in South Africa is just lovely.

NFF>>> How is it being a designer in an emerging fashion industry, like the one which exist in Nigeria?
DUMI>>> It is a challenge; there is a lot to learn and a lot to do when running a business or trying to market the brand. Luckily, the fashion industry is still developing in Nigeria so at least I can grow with it and hopefully in a few years, the Dakou brand will be a household name.

NFF>>> If we were to have lunch, how would I describe your personality afterwards?
DUMI>>> Fun loving, easy going, humble and down to earth!

NFF>>> When you are not working, how do you spend your time?
DUMI>>> I have a couple other projects, www.styleme-up.com and the DSPA NGO. I spend my time working on new ideas and concepts for events. We are currently getting prepared for one of our events, which is in partnership with Catwalk the Word; The Do Sumthing for Africa Charity Ball.

NFF>>> When and where is this event taking place?
DUMI>>> It’s on the 17th of October, at the Palace Suite, Royal Garden Hotel, London.

NFF>>> What’s the idea behind the Charity ball??
DUMI>>>Well… The main purpose of the DSPA charity event is to bring together members of the public, especially well meaning Nigerians, on a particular day and have them pledge their enabling positive resources towards the DSPA project.

NFF>>> What’s the project this year?
DUMI>>> This year, the proceeds will be donated towards two different projects. The first project will involve building and developing disabled community youth homes in Lagos. The second project involves financial support for the upkeep of young children to alleviate them from hunger in Nigeria.

NFF>>> You had a successful event last year, what are your hopes for this year?
DUMI>>> Last year, We got support from Family, friends, musicians and a few young volunteers , this year we are fortunate to Partner with Catwalk The World and we have a wider range of sponsors and supporters; Virgin Nigeria, Blue Bulb media, True Love West Africa, Deola Sagoe, Samantha Cole and a host of others. We hope this year for more success , and that more people come out to support a good cause in terms of contributions and volunteer work.
